We Love Bitcoin

Years ago I got really excited about Bitcoin (sorry Tracy!). I even attended a Bitcoin conference to try to wrap my head around this new currency idea. The appeal was not as an investment opportunity but as a means of bypassing the controlling, criminal monetary institutions which have held so many to ransom for so long. It would appear that Bitcoin's time may arrived. £100 invested in 2010 is now worth £2 million. Those who have correctly predicted its rise thus far consider this only a fraction of what is to come. This is not to advise any investment but perhaps a prod to get familiar with the block-chain technology as this is the next big step in dismantling an unjust system. (In fact, since I wrote this piece the price of Bitcoin has fallen 30%).

Crypto-currency is the future now. This technology provides an alternative system which will ease all through the inevitable transition with less disruption. Fortunes may be made and lost on the emergence of crypto-currencies and already have, but that is not the point of them. Peer to peer transactions without an intermediary and out of the grip of the banks is a necessary step to liberation from a failing system...

This section from Mike Kreiger explains my enthusiasm.

If Bitcoin blew you away when you first discovered it, and continues to do so to this day, Spiral Dynamics can help explain why. Bitcoin was an expression in the physical world of the newly emergent leading-edge integral level consciousness. It drew lessons from history and attempted to take the best of orange and green worldviews and incorporate them into an entirely new form of money. We see the clear presence of free markets and individualism, as well as the intentional separation of the system from dominator hierarchies (bureaucratic government meddling), which had corrupted all money before it. Its greenness is evident in the fact that by design no individual or company controls the network. Global, decentralized, revolutionary technology. This is perhaps the perfect example of integral consciousness operating on our planet at this time from an economics standpoint, and why it has captured the imagination of so many, while at the same time being violently rejected by so many others.
