Be Human, we're good at it ...

Be Human, we're good at it...

Where your attention goes the energy flows.

Like many teachings this simple phrase has lost much of its impact through familiarity and over use. When another blogger or teacher trots out one of the old favourites it is too easy for the mind to file the information under been there, seen it, done it and got the tee shirt.

However, I really feel, particularly in the times we are currently experiencing, that this phrase should be ever present in our awareness. Seldom has there been such loud and constant demand for our attention, and the simple reason is that our attention is energy.

As old and tired systems stumble about on their last legs, they will desperately seek any form of energy they can, and the tried and trusted methods of fear and outrage are the most obvious choice of a paradigm not noted for its imagination. The narrative of war and violence, terror and threat, them and us is as predictable as any Hollywood sequel.

Fortunately, more and more are awake to the formula and whilst not detached from the suffering, their attention falls upon the human aspect of the reality as opposed to the chest beating, war mongering, follow my leader approach the formula is designed to provoke.

If these increasingly regular manufactured outrages deserve any attention at all it is surely the humanity they induce. Something far more powerful than the survival instinct (so loved by the perpetrators) kicks in, (perpetrators = all agents of violence: state, religion, terrorists or individual).

The human response to tragedy is "how can I help?" Humanity's orientation is toward the heroic, the selfless, the movement to alleviate suffering. Humanity's attention point is love. This is the attention point from which the powers that were wants to distract us.

Placing our attention on love is the power which those who reject humanity fear so much. That power lies within us all and is available at all times. If we wish to end the violence then we must choose not to give our attention to it. If we wish to end suffering then we simply have to tap into our humanity and make our attention point love in every moment. This is who we are, This is how we are designed. This is what we encounter numerous times everyday.

We cannot wait for "them" to change. We just have to stop giving "them" our attention. We can no longer give attention to their stories of how bad humanity is and how we need their protection.

We simply have to do what we are good at and be human every minute of everyday. We should give our attention to the present moment and what we can affect, which is pretty much the here and now.

And remember where our attention goes the energy flows.

With LOVE
