Do Not Save the World

There is a phrase I use which sounds unkind but is not intended that way. That phrase is "I've been Kevined."

First of all, apologies to Kevin, who, unlike the rest of my family, actually reads what I write every week. Kevin is my cousin. He is my familial mirror which shows up the working class, disenfranchised, free-thinking, inquiring, bitter, confused, revolutionary, conformist, scared, fearless lineage which sees through the societal structures whilst doffing the cap at the same time.

It's normally Friday morning when Kevin Skypes me with a new insight. Naomi Klein, John Perkins, Tony Benn, Hilary Benn, Boris Johnson, Donald Trump,Tony Blair, Ted Heath, Leon Brittan, Jimmy Savile, Bill Clinton, George Bush (last five are the same thing really), or whoever has enraged, inspired or driven Kevin to a new level of awareness. .

In an attempt to appear enlightened I regard these exchanges as a reflection of my current state of awareness. Sorry Kev, yes I have been using you. But I am only human. And I write this because Kevin has noticed that very fact. I am human.

When Kevin is angry at the world I have to acknowledge that I must be holding that energy somewhere. So I nearly fell off my Skype this morning when Kevin suggested that consciousness is the only answer (even I'm bored of hearing me say that). 

Deny that one mirror!

To explain, Kevin has examined all that is laid before him with an inquiring mind and concluded that those in charge of our world are a different species. They don't think as we do. They lack compassion and empathy. I was beginning to think that Kevin had turned into David Icke and had identified the Alien Archonic control of Planet Earth. No. Kevin expanded on his conclusion and he explained "It's as if they are squirrels and we are...."

Again, I know Kevin is reading this and it is no way belittling his conclusion. You see Icke or Kevin, Archons or squirrels, it really doesn't matter. What they have both identified is the distinction between whatever "it" is and humanity.

As I see it we have to detach from the "who", the "why" and even the "how" and concentrate on the "what". We even have to detach from "what" has happened and and simply look at "what" is happening. We have to view our world from a different perspective. A different level of consciousness.

The "it" running the world is not a person or a group but an immature consciousness which is self interested, fearful and divisive and the things that upset Kevin are merely expressions of that consciousness. The "who", the "why", and the "how" are really irrelevant when viewed from a different perspective.

A really fresh way of thinking, of behaving and choosing has to create free of the old paradigm of cause and effect, of perpetrator and victim and the most dis-empowering of all, the rescuer. The rescuer is an embodiment of hierarchy, of better, of righteousness, of superiority.

Do not be a rescuer!

Do not save the world!

Kevin is starting to show me a shift in consciousness. It is not his. It is mine.

He is right. The only answer is consciousness.
