Something has shifted
Is it just me or has something shifted?
As I watched the world this week I noticed how farcical the so-called Big Issues were. In particular, the unfolding 'drama' of the Government closure and debt ceiling debate in the US. It was at best comical and in honesty ridiculous. Never have the protagonists seemed so small and inconsequential. The scary headlines and concerned speeches looked nothing more than a playground spat, and whilst I am aware that real people have to endure the consequences of these charades, I got a sense that these really are the end days for these Wizards of Oz.
Whilst the king may have no clothes, Congress looked like a 1950s naturist documentary and anybody who has sought titillation in those documentaries know they leave you fundamentally disappointed. Whilst the inflated ego's wrestle for who can have the most zero's in their bank account (after an integer of course) their detachment from the 'real' world leaves them peculiarly vulnerable.
It is worth considering that our leaders are at some level a reflection of the collective consciousness and if we are struggling to take them seriously, it perhaps suggests the same of ourselves. Just as they have exhausted their ability to control the world so have we and the acknowledgment of that somehow brings a relief as well as a recognition of how laughable the idea that we could ever control it was.
I woke this morning with the thought of how much energy it takes to remain small. How tiring it is to resist the universal flow. How pointless it is to oppose what is.
I think we all deserve a break so why not just let it be. And if your lack of resistance leaves you bored you could always watch the news for some light relief.
