May the Presence be with you
It seems that most people I know are happy to see the back of April as it insisted that we take an intense look at stuff we have been trying to avoid for years. One of the challenges in such times is to remain present. The mind loves to review the past and plan the future and is ordinarily unaware of dissatisfied with what is going on in the present moment.
The first "spiritual" book which had an impact on me was Eckhart Tolle's The Power of Now. I read that book so many times it got to the stage where just picking it up would ease me back into a state of presence (or at least something closer to it!). Over time other ideas, practices and possibilities have come along, grabbed my attention andhad some effect or other, but an underlying theme is the importance of my relationship with the now present moment.
So as April drew to an end and I, like so many, crawled exhausted onto the beach battered by the waves, I found a beautiful book called The Presence Process by Michael Brown. Although only a little way into it, the writing and structure feel to penetrate by osmosis and seem to be calming the turbulence of the past month.
May promises to be clearer and calmer and I am happy to have found a guide to keep me focused in Present Moment Awareness.
May the Presence be with you!
