Close The Gap

One of the more practical nuggets of wisdom I took away from my recent Adyashanti experience was simply to "close the gap".

The gap of which he speaks is that between the knowing that you are going to do something and actually doing it. Anyone who finds themselves filling in a tax return at midnight at the end of March knows this experience. However painful the process of actually completing the form the worst of the suffering comes in the time between knowing it has to be done and actually doing it.

A simple examplehe gave is the morning alarm clock. When it goes off just get up. Close the gap between the realisation and the action. The suffering is in the thinking about it whilst stuck in the gap. Remove the resistance by just getting up. Close the gap.

What are you putting off?
