Strange and Beautiful

"Civilised life, you know, is based on a huge number of illusions in which we all collaborate willingly. The trouble is we forget after a while that they are illusions and we are deeply shocked when reality is torn down around us."

- J.G. Ballard

The quote above was included in the book The Humans by Matt Haig and one of his characters goes on:

"In every life there is a moment. A crisis. One that says : what I believe is wrong. It happens to everyone, the only difference is how the knowledge changes them. In most cases , it is simply a case of burying that knowledge and pretending it isn't there. That is how humans grow old. That is ultimately what creases their faces and curves their backs and shrinks their mouths and ambitions. The weight of that denial. The stress of it...The single biggest act of bravery or madness anyone can do is the act of change.

It is a strange and beautiful time to be alive.

Strange because I believe we are collectively experiencing that crisis. Huge numbers are waking up to the realisation that what "we" have believed is wrong.

Beautiful because we have somehow summoned the bravery (or madness) to change. And by change I don't mean rearrange the deckchairs, I mean fundamentally review our relationship with everything. In other words our consciousness is shifting.

A few years back in the course Stability in an Unstable World I looked at the issues which I thought were leading to, or evidence of, increased instability. These included earth changes, population, economy, the New Kids, technology and consciousness. I wrote:

"Your external world is changing much faster than your existing belief patterns, mindsets, and emotional reference points will be able to accommodate. In order to navigate this ‘explosion’ it will become increasingly important to access your internal guidance system. You will require discernment rather than judgement and have convictions in your truths in the moment whilst remaining awake to the possibility, in fact probability that those truths will be transitory."

The most notable difference since I wrote that nearly two years ago is the number of people waking up to the realisation that much of what they have been told or have understood is wrong. I described this in the course as the Truth Exponent and I feel it is starting to get traction.

This change and pace of change is not a comfortable place and for many the response is denial and fear. You only have to look at those managing the world economy to see this being played out. (The "best" economic minds are still trying to solve a debt problem by increasing debt.)

However, large numbers are losing resistance to the inevitability of change and are being gently guided to the possibility of a new reality. They are following Einstein's advice and not bothering to seek solutions at the level the problems were created. They are exploring new levels of consciousness and thinking, seeking out an experience where the problems simply don't exist. (Perhaps those economists should examine their underlying assumptions around scarcity, explore a new level of thinking or maybe get a proper job rather than repeat the same old mistakes.)

What I find exciting is that in my experience and observation those new levels of consciousness are being grounded into everyday life. Many are getting glimpses of, or abiding in, a more unconditional space, (or the fifth dimension). Of course conditionality, or the third dimension, keeps popping its head up, but somehow its story is less compelling.

The seeming co-existence of these realities can prove dis-orienting at times, and lead tothe "I got it,I lost it" type of experience. One moment even the word problem seems a nonsense. The next moment all of those old beliefs seem credible again. I have likened this to stepping off a boat after many days at sea. Even though you are on solid ground you can still sense the movement of the waves.

The good news is that we are off the boat. The memory of the waves will fade and the new reality will begin to establish itself in such a way that we will find it hard to believe it wasn't always this way. There are plenty still all at sea, choosing to get tossed about in the waves, but having got to solid ground we become a reference point rather than a life boat.

It may feel strange but my God is it beautiful!

Lots of love,
