White coats are the new dog collars, its been scientifically proven!
I had been putting off watching the documentary Vaxxed since its release in 2016. However, prompted by a friend keen, I decided to put aside an evening to see if there was anything new to learn.
Sadly, Vaxxed simply confirmed my view that those charged with a duty of care over our children are too compromised to be trusted.
Happily, Vaxxed could act as a catalyst to those sharing my view that those wishing to safe-guard their well being can only do so through self responsibility.
My reluctance to watch the film was in part due to battle fatigue. I have had too many "discussions" in the past with doctors, health professionals, parents and "educated" friends who were affronted by my decision not to vaccinate my kids. Apparently my decision was endangering other children through the slightly paradoxical herd immunity idea. It seems their vaccinated child might contract measles from my unvaccinated child (just think about that for a second).
Further, my unwillingness to trust the medical authorities and scientists who had "proved" the vaccine to be safe made me something of an anarchist in their minds. They would prefer to have their apple cart left untouched thank you very much. As ever any viewpoint which invited critical thought on their part was dismissed as conspiracy at best, heretical at worst. White coats are the new dog collars, its been scientifically proven!
My decision not to vaccinate, alas too late, was made in the wake of my son Tom's reaction to his first MMR jab. The decision was made even tougher as my parents had lost a daughter to measles before I was born. Every parent knows the agony of such choices and it takes courage to follow your convictions in the face of the fear porn pumped out by those with our "best interests" at heart. Its amazing how our "best interests" are so often coincident with those of big pharma, the banks and defence industries.
There was another reason I had avoided the film and that was my reluctance to hook myself back into the right/wrong, good/bad level of consciousness which such information can induce. My experience with my own son and working with the parents of many others was in a large part the catalyst which drove me to question so many of the assumptions which were the foundations of my world.
Subsequently, I inevitably formed a bunch of opinions around the rights and wrongs of the world and spent a lot of energy defending or projecting those opinions. I would like to think those opinions were formed on critical inquiry, but in the end they are just opinions. They are no more right nor wrong than anybody else's opinions, and one thing is for sure, they will change with time and experience.
Fortunately, I have exhausted the need to be right. My personal conclusion around health is that the best way to stay healthy is to avoid the medical system. Again this is just my current opinion. I will happily share my opinions if asked but with a healthy scepticism about their veracity.
Reality will give you the truth. Opinion counts for nothing.
The biggest issue the film raised for me was the removal of choice. I no longer have the desire or energy to attack the system but I feel it is important to have the right not to engage with it. That right is no longer available to many parents and children, particularly in the US, and hopefully we will see that change soon.
To fight the system is to feed the system. I choose to allocate my energy to building a reality which makes that system irrelevant and encourage others to do the same.
Simply step outside and breathe.
With love
Bill
